Central Asian triathlon continues its development

The second meeting of the Executive Board of the Central Asian Triathlon Association (CATA), which includes the national triathlon federations of five countries - Iran, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, was carried out in the capital of Uzbekistan.

The meeting, chaired by СATA President Galimzhan Yessenov, was attended by СATA members - СATA Senior Vice President Chyngyz Alkanov, СATA Vice President Farrukh Nasyrov, СATA Secretary General Maksim Kriat and СATA Executive Secretary Ainagul Takeeva. President of the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan Otabek Umarov was the guest of honor at the meeting.

There were several significant issues in the daily protocol, such as the approval of the official CATA website, the election of the heads of committees, that were established during the Second CATA Congress, as well as the holding of the first official competitions under the aegis of CATA, the CATA rating system, the inclusion of new members in the Association, the carrying out of joint training camps and others.

As a result of the meeting, a number of important decisions, determining the pass forward of the Association's work, were taken. Thus, the member of the Board of Trustees of Almaty Triathlon Federation Valikhan Ten (Kazakhstan) was elected as the head of the CATA Media Committee. Zhasur Tadzhiev (Uzbekistan) was elected as the head of the Legal Committee. The Sports Committee was headed by Kanat Kelsinbekov, and the leadership of the Paratriathlon Committee was entrusted to the Secretary General of the Triathlon Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic Elena Lyzhina-Polchenkova.

The first transnational start of Shymkent-Tashkent was scheduled for May 3, 2020. The delegates also decided to hold the first Central Asian Triathlon Championship separately from the Asian Cup stages. Such cities as Samarkand and Almaty claim to host such an important start. The Kyrgyz Republic will organize and conduct the first start of the СATA paratriathlon. Perhaps, the most interesting solution for Kazakh athletes can be considered that some stages of the national triathlon tournament among Kazakh fans, the "TEMIRADAM" Cup, will be held at the international level in Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Second meeting of the Executive Committee of CATA was memorable for such happy news. While active work on the tasks, received at the meeting, has started, Kazakh amateur athletes are looking forward to the start of the new triathlon season, which promises to be more intense.
