London 2012 Olympic champion and general manager of Astana cycling team Aleksandr Vinokurov won the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice (France) in his age category, Vesti.kz reports.
45-year-old Kazakhstan representative managed to overcome the distance (swimming, cycling and running) in 4 hours, 28 minutes and 47 seconds. 507 athletes participated in this age category. At that, Vinokurov became the 93rd among all 3 344 participants of the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice.
Vinokurov previously won the BI Group Ironman 70.3 Astana in Nur-Sultan in his age category. This victory brought the Olympic champion in cycling a ticket to the next year’s World Championship.
In addition, General Manager of Astana cycling team will perform at another major start of the season – the Ironman 140.6 World Championship in Kailua-Kona (Hawaii), which will be held on October 12.
